Advanced Engineering Days (AED)
International Engineering Symposium
Advanced Engineering Days (AED) is an international and multidisciplinary engineering symposium that provides an academic platform for researchers, academics, engineers, professionals, and students to present original research, exchange knowledge, receive constructive scholarly feedback, and establish international academic collaborations.
The symposium brings together participants from different engineering disciplines and countries to discuss recent scientific developments, emerging technologies, innovative methods, and practical solutions to contemporary engineering challenges. Through presentations, academic discussions, peer review, and the publication of proceedings, AED contributes to the dissemination and advancement of engineering knowledge.
Professor Dr. Murat Yakar of Mersin University has played a leading role in the academic and organizational development of the symposium, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the proceedings and as a member of its organizing and executive committees.
Aim of the Symposium
The principal aim of Advanced Engineering Days is to establish an inclusive international platform through which researchers and engineering professionals can present their scientific work, discuss new ideas, improve the quality of their studies through expert feedback, and develop sustainable academic and professional networks.
The symposium promotes interdisciplinary communication by bringing together different branches of engineering within a shared scholarly environment. It also supports the transformation of scientific findings into practical knowledge that can contribute to technological advancement and the solution of engineering-related problems.

- Undergraduate students conducting scientific research
- Representatives of research institutions
- Professionals from public and private organizations
- Participants interested in emerging engineering technologies and applications
Both individual and collaborative research submissions are welcomed.
Academic Review Process
Submitted papers are evaluated according to their scientific relevance, originality, methodological quality, clarity, and contribution to engineering knowledge. Each submission is reviewed by at least two expert referees.
The review process is intended not only to assess the suitability of papers for presentation but also to provide authors with constructive academic feedback that can improve the quality of their work.
Acceptance of a paper is subject to successful completion of the review process and compliance with the symposium’s academic and formatting requirements.
Paper Submission Requirements
According to the author guidelines applied for the 9th Advanced Engineering Days:
- Authors could submit their full papers directly without submitting a preliminary abstract.
- Full papers were limited to three pages, including results, figures, tables, and references.
- Papers had to be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
- PDF files were not accepted during the initial submission process.
- The ORCID identifier of every author had to be included in the paper.
- Submissions were accepted electronically through the conference submission system.
- Papers and presentations had to be prepared in English.
- At least one co-author of every accepted paper was required to register and present the study.
Submission requirements, templates, deadlines, and presentation instructions may be updated for each edition. Authors should therefore consult the relevant call for papers before preparing their manuscripts.
Presentation Language
English is the official academic language of Advanced Engineering Days. Submitted papers and conference presentations must be prepared and delivered in English to ensure effective international communication and accessibility.
Publication of Proceedings
All papers that successfully complete the review process, receive acceptance, comply with the required format, and are presented at the symposium are published in the official Advanced Engineering Days proceedings e-book.
The proceedings provide a permanent academic record of the research presented during each edition of the symposium. Proceedings books from previous editions have been published under the editorship of Professor Dr. Murat Yakar and collaborating academic editors.
Extended versions of selected papers may be invited for further consideration by relevant academic journals. Such papers must normally contain substantial additional material and remain subject to the journal’s independent submission, editorial evaluation, peer-review, and publication policies. Conference acceptance does not guarantee journal publication.
Conference Format
Advanced Engineering Days has used online, in-person, and combined participation formats depending on the organization of each edition. This flexible approach has enabled researchers from different countries and institutions to participate regardless of geographical limitations.
The symposium programme may include:
- Oral research presentations
- Parallel scientific sessions
- Interdisciplinary engineering discussions
- Questions and answers
- Academic feedback from session chairs and participants
- Networking and collaboration opportunities
Detailed presentation duration, session schedules, technical instructions, and participation arrangements are announced separately for each edition.
Participation and Registration
For the 9th Advanced Engineering Days, participation and registration were offered free of charge. Online participation was available, while researchers interested in attending in person were requested to coordinate with the local organizing institution.
At least one author of each accepted paper was required to complete registration. Accepted papers without a registered presenting author were not included in the final conference programme or proceedings.
Registration conditions may be revised for future editions and should be confirmed through the relevant conference announcement.
The 9th Advanced Engineering Days
The 9th Advanced Engineering Days was held on 9–10 July 2024 at the University of Tabriz in Tabriz, Iran. The symposium was organized through cooperation between academics from Mersin University and the University of Tabriz.
The academic leadership of the ninth edition included:
- Professor Dr. Murat Yakar, Mersin University – Co-Chair
- Professor Dr. Khalil Valizadeh Kamran, University of Tabriz – Co-Chair
- Assistant Professor Dr. Sadra Karimzadeh, University of Tabriz – Co-Chair and Head of the Scientific Committee
The ninth edition continued the international and multidisciplinary character of AED by welcoming contributions covering a broad range of engineering disciplines.
History of Advanced Engineering Days
Advanced Engineering Days began in 2021 and subsequently developed into a recurring international engineering symposium:
- 1st AED – 23 December 2021, Mersin, Türkiye
- 2nd AED – 16 March 2022, Mersin, Türkiye
- 3rd AED – 8 June 2022, Mersin, Türkiye
- 4th AED – 21 September 2022, Mersin, Türkiye
- 5th AED – 3 December 2022, Mersin, Türkiye
- 6th AED – 5 March 2023, Mersin, Türkiye
- 7th AED – 9 July 2023, Mersin, Türkiye
- 8th AED – 8 December 2023, Mersin, Türkiye
- 9th AED – 9–10 July 2024, University of Tabriz, Tabriz, Iran
